So I've been ripping up the carpet in my bedroom these past couple days. I've hated that carpet forever, and it's been there for 30 years. Yeah, it's pretty gross. And it's a complicated project, because first you have to rip the carpet, then take out the tacks, then pry up the carpet tack strips along the wall, then sweep, then wash, then rinse, then dry. Plus all the junk in my room has to be moved from one spot to the other as I rip different sections. Sounds fun, hey? :D Actually, it IS kinda fun, and music like Sara Evans, Fireflight, and Enya wile the time away nicely.
Today I rode my bike to Drug Mart to get vanilla ice cream to go with Mom's blueberry crisp, a new hair dryer for Mom, and some pampering stuff for me (like nail polish, make up...). When I was almost there, I realized I forgot my bike lock; but thank God my bike wasn't stolen! I was anxious and worried the whole time I was shopping...took away some of the fun of it. :D Then on the way home, I'm sure I made quite a spectacle: rushing along at a great pace, trying to get home before the ice cream melted, plastic bags swinging crazily from the handlebars and crashing into my knees. I passed a guy on a bike, who was not so absorbed in his iPod that he couldn't grin at me as he passed.
Arriving home, I dumped my bike on the lawn and rushed the ice cream in the house, laying it tenderly in the freezer. I found a note on the front door that said:
Clare,
Went to pick up the car.
Are you making dinner :)?
Love,
Mom
At first, I wasn't so sure I would comply with her request, and wrote her a reply:
Mom,
You owe me $4 for the ice cream and --surprise!--$13 for the dryer.
Must have been on sale and I didn't even know it.
Don't count on dinner.
Love,
Clare
But then I thought better of it and made pasta with sauteed vegetables. Despite the fact that I didn't put enough vegetables in, it was still quite good. If I may say so myself. :D
Off to watch more of P&P!
